“The DMK alliance will face a crushing defeat in 2026 Assembly elections for the disrespect they showed towards Hindu community,” said Hindu Munnani State president Kadeswara Subramaniam.

Speaking to journalists at Tirupparankundram here on Wednesday night, he said, “We do not know why there is so much hatred towards Hindus. This government will face a massive defeat in the 2026 elections. We must inflict a crushing defeat on them, one that will be recorded in the history of the DMK. We believe that all Hindus together will give a fitting reply to the DMK through the elections.”

“The Madurai MP, who said that lighting a lamp would cause riots, speaks like an extremist. The government should conduct itself impartially, but it is behaving as a government for only one section of people,” he added.

Further, Mr. Subramaniam noted that their next course of action would be decided after the executive committee meeting.

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department is also aiding in insulting Lord Murugan.

However, he said, they could not be blamed entirely as they were just following the orders from above.

Lamps have been lit for hundreds of years. Even after legally obtaining permission to light the lamp, denying that permission is unacceptable, he said.
