A public prosecutor assigned in a POCSO case was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths on Friday for demanding and taking bribe from the survivor’s father to argue the case in Dharmapuri.
Public prosecutor Kalpana was charged with the case involving the sexual abuse of a girl in a government school here. The case had come up for trial in the Special Court for POCSO Cases. However, Kalpana had reportedly demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 from the complainant and the survivor’s father to argue the case.
On Friday, the complainant approached the DVAC and lodged a complaint. Following this, a trap was laid, wherein, the complainant was planted to handover the bribe amount of ₹10,000 at the public prosecutor’s house. The cash was handed over and the same was collected by the accused. The public prosecutor was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe and was arrested.
