
A vehicle from Keelakarai rammed into a stationary car with A.P. registration in the early hours on December 6, 2025.

At least five persons including four from Andhra Pradesh and a DMK functionary from Tamil Nadu died in a road accident in the early hours of Saturday (December 6, 2025), when a speeding car reportedly rammed into a stationary vehicle East Coast Road near Keelakarai.
Seven people, from both the vehicles, who had suffered multiple injuries were rushed to the hospitals, the police said.
According to preliminary inquiry, DMK functionary Mushtaq Ahmed (30) had left with six of his friends at around midnight towards Keelakarai from Yerwadi. As the vehicle approached ECR at 3 a.m., the vehicle had rammed into a stationary car with A.P. registration which was parked in front of a hotel.
In the impact, four of the five persons sitting inside the stationary vehicle died, while an occupant in the other vehicle had died.
The police have identified the deceased persons as Mushtaq Ahmed (30) of Keelakarai, Ramachandra Rao (55), Apparao Naidu (40), Bandana Chandra Rao (42) and Ramar (45) from Andhra Pradesh.
It is said that four of them died on the spot and Ramar was declared brought dead by the doctors in the hospital. Ashrath Ali (28) of Keelakarai was referred to a hospital in Madurai for treatment.
A senior police officer, who was supervising the rescue operation, said the Keelakarai vehicle belonged to the DMK functionary who was out with friends, with his driver at the wheel.
Keelakarai Police have registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
