The Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare has extended the last date for bidders to apply for fishing rights for the next five years in Pilloor Dam.

Those interested can download application from www.tntenders.gov.in and submit it before 9 a.m. on December 10.

Clarifications about the tender will be provided on email (inlandfisheries15@gmail.com) or at the office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries at Erode (1424-2221912), a press release from the department said.

The bidder should obtain solvency certificate for a value of not less than ₹4.1 lakh from the tahsildar concerned. According to official sources, though fishing rights are leased to inland fishermen/fisherwomen cooperative societies, the tender-cum-auction system is followed if the cooperative societies are not willing.

Though the registered Fishermen Cooperative Societies are exempted from furnishing solvency certificate, they should enclose a resolution passed in their general body meeting to participate in the tender-cum-auction process.

According to official data, the National Fisheries Development Board has estimated that the average productivity of fish is 15 kg per hectare. Catla, rohu (labeo rohita), mrigal carp (cirrhinus mrigala), and common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fish varieties are found in the dam.
