The Communist parties and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi on Monday jointly staged demonstrations in Tiruchi and Pudukottai districts against the four labour codes notified recently by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

Condemning the BJP government for enforcing the codes, the CPI, CPI (M), CPI(ML) and VCK demanded their withdrawal. They said the four labour codes were ‘pro-corporate’ and ‘anti-worker’.

Terming them as an ‘attack’ on the working class, they said the codes snatched away the rights enjoyed by the labour class for years.  In Tiruchi city, the demonstration was organised near the Junction Khadi Kraft in which leaders from all the four parties took part.

Among those who participated were CPI farmers wing State deputy secretary T. Indrajit, CPI (M) urban district secretary Govi. Vetriselvam and VCK zonal organising secretary S. Vivekanandan.

In Pudukottai town, the demonstration was organised near Anna statue in which CPI (M) district secretary S. Sankar, CPI district secretary T. Sengodan and others participated.
