The Carollers, Tiruchi’s oldest choral group, ushered in the spirit of Christmas with its 62nd edition of the Carols by Candlelight programme at St. Paul’s Church in Woraiyur on Saturday in an evening of sacred music.
The group started the evening with rousing renditions of “Carollers’ March” and “Let Your Light Shine”. They were followed by presentations in English and Tamil from Trinity Chorale, Tiny Tenutus, and choirs from various city churches. A total of 11 choral groups participated in the event.
Songs for mass singing included O Come All Ye Faithful, The Bethlehem Song, and It Came Upon the Midnight.
The programme ended with the much-anticipated rendition of “Silent Night” with attendees lighting up candles in the darkened hall.
Rev. Manimaran of St. Paul’s Church delivered the opening prayer and the closing prayer benediction was given by Rt. Rev. D. Daniel Jayaraj, Bishop Emeritus, Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church.
