The 20th edition of the Asian Games is being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. This premier sporting event brings together athletes from 45 nations and regions across Asia, with every National Olympic Committee under the Olympic Council of Asia fully represented.
In addition to the national teams, an Asian Refugee Team will compete under its own flag, bringing the total number of participating teams to 46. Nearly 470 sets of medals will be awarded during this event. As the continent converges in Nagoya for this mega-sport championship, it promises an extraordinary experience for athletes and fans alike.
A contingent of 501 Indian athletes, comprising 267 men and 234 women, is competing across 36 disciplines at the 2026 Asian Games. They aim to build on a historic performance at the Hangzhou Games, where India finished fourth behind China, Japan and South Korea with an impressive haul of 106 medals.
Moreover, India’s campaign at this Quadrennial spectacle is led by some of the nation’s biggest sports icons, including Manu Bhaker, Mirabai Chanu, Lovlina Borgohain, P.V. Sindhu, Aman Sehrawat, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Gulveer Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Smriti Mandhana, and Jasprit Bumrah.
