Coastal Security Guard personnel in Thondi conducted a search operation at Mullimunai coastal village near Samayapurathu Amman temple sea shore on Sunday.
The team seized 179 kg of ganja in 10 sacks.
While searching, the team found four suspicious persons were loading some sack bags suspiciously in an unregistered country boat, owned by Raja of Mullimunai.
Immediately, the team secured two persons along with the sack bags and the boat.
On examining the sack bags, the team found 87 bundles of ganja each weighing about 2 kg. In all, 179 kg of ganja was seized.
The accused along with seized properties were brought to Devipattinam Marine police station. A case was registered u/s 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(c), 25 of NDPS Act 1985.
The police gave the names of the accused as Thoondi Karuppu, 38, son of Raja, Mullimunai Thiruvadanai Taluk and R. Vinoth, 28. Two others are absconding.
