A 38-year-old man was murdered, allegedly by his accomplice, in a quarrel on Sunday night.
In 2022, C. Selvakumar of Palavadi near Kolathur, along with his accomplice E. Kumar (35), murdered a person. In that case, the duo was arrested and remanded in prison. But after coming out on bail, Selvakumar did not appear in the court and the Mettur Court issued a warrant against him and he was arrested in March this year. After seven months, he came out of prison a few days ago.
The police said that on Sunday around 10 p.m., he and Kumar consumed liquor at Kaveripuram Bus Stop. At that time, a quarrel erupted between the duo and Kumar allegedly attacked Selvakumar with a wooden log and he sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. On information, Kolathur police came to the spot and sent the body to Mettur Government Hospital for postmortem. The police arrested Kumar, who was at the spot in an inebriated state. The police registered a case and are investigating further.
