Mysuru hosts Lions Regional Conference

Highlighting the message of ‘Live and Let Live’, the Lions Regional Conference was held in Mysuru on December 14. The conference underscored the importance of peace, coexistence, and mutual respect in society.

Inaugurating the conference, noted wildlife photographers Krupakar and Senani said that in today’s highly competitive era, it is essential to preserve human values while living one’s life. Only when individuals respect the right of others to live, along with their own, can a cultured and harmonious society be built, they observed.

Regional president H.C. Kantaraju said that ‘Live and Let Live’ is not merely a slogan but a value that must be practised in everyday life. M. Shivakumar, a founding member of the Lions Ambassador organisation, donated his two-acre land at Begur village in Periyapatna taluk to the Lions Club Mysuru Ambassador Seva Trust. The land will be used to establish self-employment initiatives, skill development programmes, and a tailoring training centre for young men and women, a note here read.

As part of the conference, various service activities were organised. Financial assistance of ₹50,000 was provided to an eight-year-old child suffering from cancer. Sewing machines were distributed, and educational fees of students were paid. On the occasion, Mysuru Ranganath, who has made significant contributions in the field of journalism, was honoured.

District governor K.L. Rajashekar said that Lions organisations in the district have been carrying out valuable service activities and congratulated all members.

Former district governor N. Krishne Gowda, zone presidents Balu and Nagaraju, Kariyappa, C.R. Dinesh, R.D. Kumar, K.T. Vishnu, Rajesh, and V. Sridhara were present.
