The rear wheel of a private school bus reportedly got detached while the vehicle was travelling on the G.D. Naidu flyover on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore city on Saturday (December 20, 2025) around 2 p.m.
Reportedly, while proceeding towards the Coimbatore International Airport, the rear wheel rolled for about one kilometre on the flyover near the Hope College junction. The driver brought the vehicle to a halt along the side of the flyover.
There were no students in the bus at the time, and no injuries were reported.
A motorist passing through the area reportedly noticed the wheel about one kilometre away on the flyover and handed it over to the driver.
Transport Department officials said they would verify the incident.
