The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies–Srikakulam (RGUKT-S) is conducting an inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment against certain staff members, according to reliable sources, including students.
“Yes, the inquiry is under way. Committee members Prof. Sravani Kanaka Kumari, advocate Padmaja, and H.V. Saritha have visited the girls’ hostels and interacted with students regarding the allegations of sexual harassment against some staff,” said a source at the institute.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff members are alleged to have been misbehaving with girl students on the campus premises in recent months. Some of the affected students reportedly sent an email to the higher authorities of the university, alleging sexual harassment by certain staff.
The students are also said to have submitted written complaints, along with supporting evidence, to the committee. The inquiry is expected to continue for a few more days, the sources added.
