Two teenagers, including a college student, were killed after a lorry carrying chickens allegedly rammed their motorcycle on the Poonamallee Bypass in the early hours of Saturday.
The victims were identified as P. Nirmal, 19, a second-year B.Com student, and his friend S. Santhosh, 16, who worked as a load man at a vegetable market in Avadi.
Both were residents of Parivakkam.
The police said the accident occurred around 3.30 a.m. near the lorry showroom when the duo were out to get refreshments.
A lorry travelling from Nagari to Royapettah, driven by A. Nisar Ahmed, 31, allegedly took a sudden left turn and hit the two-wheeler.
Head injuries
In the impact, both of them were thrown off the motorcycle and suffered severe head and abdominal injuries.
The Traffic Investigation Wing arrested the lorry driver on charges of causing death by negligence and rash driving.
