The BJP criticised the YSRCP for spreading misinformation regarding medical colleges under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
In a statement on Sunday, BJP A.P. spokesperson Sadineni Yamini Sarma described the YSRCP’s allegations as a baseless attack aimed at creating confusion and fear among the public.
Referring to the letter written by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to A.P. Minister for Health Satya Kumar Yadav, defending the PPP model, Ms. Yamini Sarma said the letter highlighted that the model has already been successfully implemented in 20 States, with 919 diagnostic centers currently operational. The Union government provides up to 80% viability gap funding, and each project receives financial support of ₹5 crore. The letter also emphasised the urgent need to complete the construction of medical colleges promptly to ensure citizens receive high-quality healthcare services, she said.
Ms. Yamini Sarma accused the YSRCP of resorting to false narratives and venomous statements over allegations of crores of rupees in medical college projects, suggesting that the party fears exposure of widespread corruption under the Jagan government. She also called on YSRCP leaders, including its president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, to act responsibly and prioritise public welfare instead of misleading people with baseless claims.
