The Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) Department recorded significant enforcement gains in 2025, detecting tax evasion worth ₹228.31 crore and realising ₹213.58 crore for the State exchequer through intensified inspections and enforcement drives across Telangana, according to its annual report released on Wednesday (December 31).
Between January and December 2025, the department entrusted 292 enquiries to field units, of which 480 were completed and submitted, indicating improved efficiency in enquiry disposal. As part of routine enforcement, 203 route checks were conducted during the year, covering 18,137 vehicles. These operations resulted in the booking of 3,994 cases and the collection of ₹12.51 crore towards penalties and taxes.
In the Civil Supplies sector, the department carried out 451 inspections covering fair price shops, Minimum Livelihood Security points and private premises. These inspections led to the booking of 53 cases under Section 6A of the Essential Commodities (EC) Act and 38 BNS cases, along with 24 other cases. Officials also seized 24 vehicles and confiscated essential commodities valued at ₹114.95 crore.
The department said special focus was placed on sensitive and priority areas such as cotton and paddy procurement, seed distribution, fertiliser supply, and the overloading of passenger and transport vehicles. These checks were aimed at protecting farmers’ interests and ensuring transparent implementation of government policies.
