Marking the onset of 2026 New Year celebrations, Superintendent of Police G. Chandeesh joined police personnel and members of the public in a cake-cutting ceremony at the New Bus Stand on Wednesday night.

Speaking to the press following the celebrations, he said that as per his instructions, police officials ranging from Assistant Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Inspectors to Sub-Inspectors, along with public, would celebrate the New Year by cutting cakes at the 52 police stations in the district.

Also, he informed the public to celebrate and observe safe celebrations. “With the deployment of 1,500 police personnel and 37 check posts in the district, those committing any kind of violations would be caught and strict punishment given,” he added.

Those found to be cutting cakes with weapons would be caught and booked under Arms Act, he warned.

Other unlawful activities like drunk and drive, speeding, rash driving and consumption of banned products should be avoided to prevent repercussions, Mr. Chandeesh stated.
