Two minor boys from Assam were killed in a fire accident reported in an illegal black fuse manufacturing unit at Sirukulam near Sattur on Friday.
The police identified the deceased as Shakibul Ali,16, and Zaithul Hussain,15.
An electrical short-circuit had triggered spark on the highly inflammable black fuses being manufactured and caused a ball of fire that engulfed the boys. They could not escape from the room and both were charred to death on the spot.
The bodies were taken to the Government hospital in Sattur.
Appayanaickenpatti police are investigating.
The incident brought to light not just the illegal fuse manufacturing unit but also the presence of children at the hazardous working spot.
