The Rolugunta police arrested two persons E. Srinu and Sheikh Sailm on Friday for allegedly cheating job aspirants by collecting money and promising them government jobs, in Anakapalli district.
Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that the accused Srinu approached a DSC aspirant from Rolugunta through her husband, claiming strong connections with ‘CM Peshi’ (Chief Minister’s Office) and promised to secure an SGT post in the February 2025 DSC examination, for which he demanded ₹15 lakh.
To gain their confidence, the accused sent a fake audio clip that was made to appear as if the Chief Minister was personally speaking to him and another fake conference call in which another accused Sheikh Sailm impersonated as PA of the IT Minister.
Believing these claims, the victims paid ₹12.13 lakh in several installments. After realising that they had been cheated, the victims approached the police.
Following the investigation, police arrested the accused. During investigations, the police found that Srinu was involved in three similar offences in the past.
