Minister for Transport K.B. Ganesh Kumar will hoist the national flag and receive the salute at the Republic Day celebrations scheduled to be held at Asramam Maidan on Monday. The ceremony will be attended by prominent officials including District Collector N. Devidas, District Police Chief (Kollam City) Kiran Narayanan, District Police Chief (Kollam Rural) Vishnu Pradeep, and Additional District Magistrate G. Nirmal Kumar, alongside various people’s representatives and district-level officers.
The event follows a meticulous schedule, beginning with the parade assembly at 8:50 a.m. The parade commander will take charge at 8:52 a.m., followed by the arrival of the Minister as the chief guest at 9:02 a.m. The national flag will be hoisted at 9:05 a.m., leading into the parade inspection at 9:08 a.m. The march past is scheduled for 9:13 a.m., after which the Minister will deliver the Republic Day message. The proceedings will conclude with the distribution of mementos and the rendering of the national anthem.
The parade will feature diverse platoons and band troupes from the Police, Excise, Forest, Fire and Rescue Services departments, Student Police Cadets, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and the Junior Red Cross. In a move to support student participation, concession rates will be applicable for students on all private buses within the Corporation limits on the day of the event. The District Collector has mandated that the celebrations strictly adhere to the green protocol. There is a complete ban on the production, distribution, sale, and display of plastic national flags, and shopkeepers have been directed to avoid stocking them. For safety, a dedicated medical team with an ambulance will be stationed at the ground.
Additionally, the Collector has issued a directive for all government employees to participate in the celebrations and instructed that the national flag be hoisted at all offices, educational institutions, and health centres.
