Republic Day greetings with flowers and plants crafted by women at the Palla Venkanna flower nursery in Kadiyam, East Godavari district.

A group of 20 workers, mostly women flower growers from the Palla Venkanna flower nursery in Kadiyam, East Godavari district, toiled for four days to craft a 77th Republic Day greeting with thousands of plants.
Their creation created with 20,000 plants species namely— Alternanthera photoperiods, green, yellow, red and black of Oxipolio plant, Mondo Grass and Eugenia Dwarfcontains to form motifs of the national flag, Ashoka Chakra and Republic Day letters, each depicted with the respective species of plants of the appropriate colour. The final outcome was a connoisseur’s delight.
Established in 1953 on the banks of river Godavari, Palla Venkanna nursery chairman Palla Satyanarayana Murthy (Sattibabu) told The Hindu: “The greeting is aimed at showing how best we could be part of the Republic Day celebrations. Various species of plants used in the greeting send a message of unity in diversity. We are thrilled to bring out a colourful creation.”
Visitors can view the greeting at the Palla Venkanna nursery.
