The Rayachoti Court in Annamayya district on Tuesday sentenced a man to two years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 for attempting to obtain a passport using forged documents. The Principal Junior Civil Judge T. Suyodhana delivered the verdict holding the accused guilty of forgery and cheating.
The convict, Shaik Vaseem Akram of Aleemabad street in Rayachoti town, had applied for an ECNR passport on November 5, 2023, by submitting a forged Class X marks memo as document. The Rayachoti Urban Police registered a case and conducted a detailed investigation.
A case was booked under Sections 420, 464, and 468 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The prosecution later proved the charges with documentary evidence.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dheeraj Kunubilli commended the investigating officers, prosecution, and court staff for ensuring the conviction of the guilty. He warned of strict legal action against attempts to misuse government systems through forged documents.
