Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Rayapati Sailaja on Friday (December 19) warned that strict legal action would be taken against those found harassing women and girls.
During her visit to Ongole, she inspected the nursing hostel at RIMS campus, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Domestic Violence Prevention Centre and Bala Sadan.
She directed the officials to spread awareness on the legal safeguards meant for women at workplace, both public and private enterprises. She also called upon the staff to explain to schoolgirls on ‘good touch and bad touch’.
Ms. Sailaja said every office or institution is equipped with an ‘Internal Complaints Cell’ where women employees or students can walk in to complain against harassment.
At Bala Sadan, she participated in the pre-Christmas event along with the children. District Women Welfare Officer Suvarna, Nursing School Principal Sumitra Devi and Deputy Superintendent (DISHA police station) Ramana Murthy took part.
