Ambedkar Porata Samithi State president Soru Sambayya on Sunday urged the government to distribute house sites and agriculture lands to Scheduled Caste communities to help them attain financial stability and live a respectable life in society.
Addressing the media in Bobbili on Sunday, Mr. Sambayya said that the association, along with other organisations would stage a protest at the Vizianagaram Collector’s office on December 29 to urge the government to distribute lands to eligible Dalit families as recommended by the Koneru Rangarao Committee in 2007.
He said that the committee had directed the then United AP government to survey lands and assign them to SC families so that the they would earn a regular income through agriculture. “The present government instead of expanding and distributing lands is trying to confiscate the assigned lands. It is a cause of concern to Dalit sections of society. Against this backdrop, we will stage a protest on December 29 to draw the attention of the government,” said Mr. Sambayya.
