The Masab Tank police have launched a manhunt to nab Aman Preet Singh, brother of actress Rakul Preet Singh, in connection with a drugs case. On December 19, the police booked two men for possession, transportation and sale of cocaine and MDMA.
The accused arrested in the case are Nitin Singhania, 35, a real estate broker from Malakpet, and Shranik Singhvi, 36, a businessman from Troop Bazaar. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by a sub inspector of Masab Tank police station following a drug seizure near Chacha Nehru Park on December 19.
According to the FIR, police intercepted a grey car near the park parking area after receiving specific information about a planned drug delivery. During the search operation, officers recovered 43.7 grams of cocaine and 11.5 grams of MDMA concealed in the dashboard of the vehicle. The drugs were verified on the spot by the clues team.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they were procuring cocaine and MDMA from a Nigerian supplier using a mobile contact saved under a pseudonym, with deliveries being made in Hyderabad through African couriers. They stated that the drugs were meant for sale to a limited group of consumers in the city.
The FIR names several alleged consumers, including Aman Preet Singh, who is currently absconding. Police said teams have been formed to trace and apprehend him. Investigators are also trying to identify and locate the main supplier and intermediaries involved in the supply chain.
Police seized the car used for transporting drugs, along with two mobile phones belonging to the accused, which allegedly contain details of contacts and financial transactions linked to the case.
The case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 22(b)(c), 27(a), 27(A) and 29 of the NDPS Act, read with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
