Shivamogga advocates have formed a committee to spearhead a campaign for a High Court circuit bench in the city to serve the State’s central region. They resolved to launch a public debate on the issue, drawing in people’s representatives and organisations.

The move follows Dakshina Kannada advocates’ push for a circuit bench in Mangaluru to cover coastal and Malnad districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga. Shivamogga advocates contend that a Mangaluru bench would ill-serve their litigants, given poor transport links between the districts.
