All Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association (AKPCTA) has accused Kerala University Vice Chancellor (V-C) in-charge Mohanan Kunnummal of nepotism and corruption.
In a statement, the organisation demanded an inquiry into the university administration for purported discrimination against aided college teachers.
According to the association, nearly 400 promotion files of aided college teachers, along with several research guide approval applications, had earlier been cleared by the Standing Committee and were included in the agenda for the Syndicate meeting held on Wednesday.
However, just hours before the meeting, the V-C reportedly removed all items related to promotions and research from the agenda unilaterally, they alleged.
“While legitimate files were sidelined, a select few cases favoured by the V-C were approved by invoking special powers under Section 10(13) of the Kerala University Act and inserted into the agenda for Syndicate approval, bypassing due process. The ongoing discrimination against aided college teachers has now escalated into blatant nepotism and corruption,” AKPCTA alleged.
They demanded a comprehensive vigilance investigation into the files included in the Syndicate agenda at the V-C’s discretion.
AKPCTA State president A. Nishanth and general secretary Bijukumar K. also urged that all promotion files that had been approved by the Standing Committee be taken up and cleared in an urgent Syndicate meeting. They also called for immediate action on the pending research guide applications, which have been delayed for a considerable period.
