All students safe after illness at Kadapa Gurukul School, says official

Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS) Secretary B. Lavanya Veni on Saturday responded to the incident in which students of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Gurukul School at Tondur in Kadapa district reportedly fell ill.

She sought details of the incident from officials and said the department had responded immediately after learning that several students at the residential school had reportedly fallen ill with vomiting and diarrhoea. The students were admitted to hospital and were given specialised treatment under the supervision of the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), she said. She added that all the students were currently in good health.

Stating that the Kadapa APSWREIS District Coordinator Officer (DCO) was at the hospital continuously monitoring the health condition of the students, Ms. Lavanya Veni assured that a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted into the incident and appropriate action would be taken against those found responsible.

The official warned that any negligence towards students or dereliction of duty by staff working in social welfare hostels and Ambedkar Gurukul schools would not be tolerated.
