An anganwadi teacher and a staff member of the Urban Family Welfare Centre (UFWC) were caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police on Wednesday while they were accepting ₹6,030 bribe for releasing funds meant for the supply of eggs at an anganwadi centre situated at Station Bazaar in the city.
The accused have been identified as anganwadi teacher Heena and UFWC staff member Pinku Bai Gaikwad.
Following a complaint lodged by Saubhagya Balbheem Rathod from Udayanagar locality in the city, the Lokayukta police team, acting under the guidance of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Siddaraju, led by Inspector B. Rajashekar, laid the trap and apprehended the accused.
A total amount of ₹14,490 has been sanctioned as egg supply funds for three months to the Station Bazaar Anganwadi. The accused demanded a bribe for releasing the amount, the Lokayukta said.
The two were caught while accepting ₹6,030, which included ₹4,830 for January and ₹1,200 (₹600 each) for November and December.
