Members of the Tamil Nadu Nutritious Meal Employees Association and Tamil Nadu State Anganwadi Employees and Assistants Association raising a 10-points charter of demands staged a protest here on Tuesday.
Citing a lack of career progression and inadequate social security, the workers staged the demonstration to voice several grievances.
They sought filling of 60,000 vacant posts and provision of a monthly pension of â‚ą6,750, said Noorjahan, State general secretary.
The union also requested that the government-led school breakfast initiative be implemented through their department, she added.
Additionally, they sought parity with general government employees regarding maternity leave, casual leave entitlements, and a revised retirement age of 62.
They also demanded extension of maternity leave to 12 months for female employees under the Nutritious Meal Scheme.
