Leaders who are authorised (to speak) in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will speak at the right time about the political parties that will be in the NDA front for the 2026 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, said BJP’s former State president K. Annamalai in Coimbatore on Friday.
When asked about his recent meeting with former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and former MLA TTV Dhinakaran, Mr. Annamalai said he had met Mr. Panneerselvam at a wedding in Coimbatore and had invited Mr. Dhinarakaran home for lunch. The BJP national president J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP State president Nainar Nagendran will decide on the parties that will be part of the NDA and announce it at the right time.
In the current situation, Tamil Nadu is likely to see a four-pronged contest in the Assembly elections and with a strong front, the NDA will be able to win 210 seats as said by Mr. Palaniswami, he said.
About 12 % of the voters in Tamil Nadu have been removed from the list through the Special Intensive Revision and the final draft is yet to be released. The voters list will be clean because of the SIR and the external squads for monitoring the elections should be sent to Tamil Nadu immediately after the release of the final list of voters, he said.
On the Thirupparankundram issue, he alleged that with the DMK moving impeachment motion against Justice G.R. Swaminathan, there is fear among the judges in the State. The DMK has made a joke of the judiciary, he said.
