A support and rest facility for gig and delivery workers operating across Hyderabad was inaugurated at Kondapur on Monday. The facility is open to gig and delivery workers across all platforms, irrespective of the company or platform they are associated with.
The ‘Ashray Centre’ was inaugurated by Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner G. Srijana. It has been established in partnership with the Telangana government and Amazon India as part of the Ashray initiative to create dedicated spaces for gig and delivery workers across Hyderabad.
“Delivery drivers spend much of their day on the move and having dedicated spaces to rest, recharge and access essential facilities can make a meaningful difference to their everyday experience,” Ms. Srijana said.
The centre provides workers with a dedicated space to take a break and rest during their working hours. It is intended to offer a convenient facility for gig and delivery workers who spend long hours travelling across different parts of the city while making deliveries.
The centre is part of the planned expansion of Ashray Centres across Hyderabad, with the initiative seeking to provide accessible spaces where gig workers can rest and access essential facilities during their working day.
