The Service Doctors and Post Graduates Association (SDPGA) has raised objections to retired government doctors being appointed to important posts in the Health Department as consultants, nodal officers and programme coordinators.
In a statement issued, the association listed the reasons for its objections. It said that the retired doctors, when appointed again, act as alternate centres of administration, conducting review meetings, supervising and intervening in day-to-day administration of government medical colleges, government hospitals, and primary health centres, superseding the three directors of Medical Education and Research, Medical and Rural Health Services, and Public Health and Preventive Medicine in decision making.
