Awareness stressed on girl child protection, empowerment

District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) K. Hari Krishna on Wednesday stressed the need for awareness of girl child protection, education and empowerment, as well as child rights and laws.

Speaking at an awareness programme organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Child Helpline-1098 at Sri Gayatri Junior College in Bakkannapalem, Madhurawada, on Wednesday, he highlighted Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, prevention of child marriage, Child Helpline-1098, suicide prevention and girl child empowerment.

Mr. Hari Krishna said promoting girls’ education, ensuring their safety and providing equal opportunities was everyone’s responsibility. He urged students to understand the POCSO, PCMA, Right to Education and Juvenile Justice laws and seek help from trusted adults or Child Helpline-1098 when facing problems.
