Members of All India Overseas Bank Employees’ Union staged demonstration in front the Indian Overseas Bank’s Maharaja Nagar Branch in Palayamkottai to press their demands, including significant increase in customer service associate recruitment to ensure better service to the account holders.
The protesting bank staff said the sharp decline in the recruitment of customer service associates even as thousands of posts remained vacant, the service being extended to the customers had suffered severe blow. Hence, considering speedy and scrupulous service to the customers, the recruitment of customer service associates should be increased.
Moreover, the recruitment of new workforce to fill-up the thousands of vacancies in the bank should be filled-up at the earliest. During this recruitment, due number of vacancies should be filled-up with the wards of bankers who died in harness after rendering yeomen service to the bank.
The QR code implementation in banking industry, which could lead to tampering, spoofing and phishing etc. should be given-up.
Since outsourcing the banking operations to private firms would always tarnish the banking sector, this harmful practice should be permanently shelved forthwith, , the protestors said.
