BC-A communities samithi urges Bandi Sanjay to withdraw his statement

The BC-A Kulala Hakkula Parirakshana Samithi on Sunday urged Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar to retract his support to inclusion of Mudhiraj community from BC-D group to BC-A group.

Addressing a press conference here, the Samithi’s founder president and retired professor M. Bagaiah took serious exception to the Union Minister’s ‘biased and unjustified’ statement about shifting a community from D group to A group in the BC reservations category. The BC-A group had 57 castes, most of which were far behind the Mudhiraj community who are large in numbers and way ahead of those in BC-A group, the retired professor said.

The Samithi’s president Gadapa Srihari and spokesperson, Kante Ramchander, contended that there was no basis for the Minister’s statement that the Supreme Court had also suggested the inclusion of the community in BC-A group. Any attempts to include any community or caste in the BC-A group should be based on scientific analysis of population and other parameters like education, financial position and social status.

While urging Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar to take back his statement, the Samithi leaders appealed to the government to compare the economic, educational and political representation of a specific community before including it in BC-A group. They reminded the Minister had a constitutional obligation to address the grievances of all communities and not to espouse the cause of one community at the cost of others.

The Samithi said any attempts to go include other communities in BC-A group would be met with stiff resistance.
