Four, including three juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old BCom student, Yogesh, in Nagarabhavi on September 30.

An argument, reportedly over a senior female student, had led to the clash which ended in the death of Yogesh.

According to the preliminary investigation, the incident stemmed from a dispute involving a female student. The prime accused, identified as Bhuvan, is currently absconding, and the police have launched a search to trace him.

Yogesh and Bhuvan were first-year BCom students at a private college on Muddayanapalya Road in Nagarabhavi. Bhuvan was reportedly in love with a student of the same college. However, the girl had rejected his advances.

The police suspect that Yogesh had spoken negatively about the girl, angering Bhuvan and leading to the confrontation.

On September 30, at 2 p.m., Bhuvan reportedly called Yogesh and asked him to come near a gym on the road behind the college. When Yogesh reached the spot, Bhuvan and his associates allegedly picked a quarrel with him.

Situation escalates

During the argument, the situation escalated, and they allegedly stabbed Yogesh in the chest before fleeing the scene, the police said.

Locals rushed Yogesh, who was lying in a pool of blood, to a nearby private hospital. However, he died on his way.

A case has been registered at the Annapurneshwari Nagar Police Station. Following the investigation, the police have arrested four persons, including three juveniles. Efforts are under way to trace Bhuvan.

The police said that the three out of four accused have been remanded to state home for boys, while the fourth accused who is major has been taken into custody for further investigation.
