Beach cleaning drive, rally mark International Coastal Clean-up day in Puducherry

International Coastal Cleanup Day 2026 was observed in Puducherry on Saturday. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan participated in a beach cleaning drive organised by the Indian Coast Guard on the Beach Promenade area in which Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan and Secretary, Government of Puducherry, R. Smitha took part. 

The National Institute of Ocean Technology, Oulgaret Municipality and the Association for Promoting Sustainability in Campuses and Communities organised a beach cleaning exercise at Kalapet. Commissioner of Oulgaret Municipality R. Arun Ayavu flagged off an awareness rally during the clean-up programme.
