The East Division police have suspended two policemen who were allegedly caught on video accepting money from a shopkeeper in a narrow lane in K.G. Halli earlier this week.
The incident came to light after a passerby recorded the two policemen, who were in uniform and travelling on a motorcycle, allegedly taking money from a person believed to be a shopkeeper. The person who recorded the video questioned the policemen about the transaction and sought an explanation from them.
Caught off guard, the policemen reportedly left the spot without responding. After the video came to light, an inquiry was ordered by the DCP of the east division. The DCP took to X on Thursday and revealed that the police officers have been placed under suspension and departmental inquiry proceedings have been initiated.
