The Department of Microbiology in Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) has secured accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for a period of four years, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
Asima Banu, nodal officer of Trauma and Emergency Care Centre attached to BMCRI, who also heads the Department of Microbiology, said the accreditation, granted under the medical testing category, will be valid till 2030.
The department, which has been providing laboratory services for several years, has expanded its testing capabilities substantially over the past decade. From conducting just three tests in 2016, it now performs 66 different tests in 2026.
