A boat procession was organised on the coastline of Kozhikode city on Friday (March 27, 2026) as part of promotional campaigns to encourage voters under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation project (SVEEP). District Election Officer and District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh flagged off the event at the Puthiyappa harbour in the morning.
A ‘SVEEP boat’ installation was also unveiled to mark the initiative which primarily targets the coastal population. ‘No voter left behind’, the campaign slogan, was displayed in multiple formats to attract the coastal population.
Campaign coordinators said the event drew the active participation of various fishermen’s organisations and fishermen’s cooperative societies. The campaign was designed with the support of the Fisheries department, they said.
Revenue officials steering the SVEEP campaigns pointed out that the Kozhikode North and Kozhikode South Assembly constituencies were found to have the lowest voter turnout in Kozhikode district during elections, and that efforts were in place to improve it through systematic interventions. A meeting of various residents’ associations would be convened soon to address the concerns in both the constituencies, they added.
