The dilution of MGNREGA scheme will affect the lives of thousands belonging to the Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Tribes depriving them to decades-old livelihood said Dalit Bahujan Shramik Front State general secretary P.Chittibabu on Monday.
Addressing the media in Vizianagaram, he said that the Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) scheme introduced recently will not benefit the downtrodden sections as States now have to bear 40% of the expenditure instead of the mandatory 10% during the implementation of the MGNREGA.
He added that the government favoured only the corporate sector with several concessions to software and other sectors. The Union Budget 2026 gave no allocations for the Visakhapatnam-headquartered South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone and Central Tribal University in Vizianagaram.
Mr. Chittibabu further added that there was no action plan for the quick development of backward areas like Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and such other districts in the country.
