Burglars broke into a house of a 66-year-old businessman in Madipakkam, and allegedly escaped with more than a kilogram of silver articles and other valuables. The Madipakkam police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects.
The complainant, R. Dhanapal, 66, was staying with his wife for over one week. On Tuesday morning, he noticed that the CCTV cameras installed at his house had stopped functioning. Suspecting something was amiss, he alerted a neighbour and asked him to check the house. The neighbour found the house burgled, following which Dhanapal and his wife returned to Chennai.
The couple found that the burglars had entered the house from the rear after scaling the compound wall and climbing onto the terrace. They then broke open two steel doors and ransacked three bedrooms.
The burglars also broke open a steel bureau and damaged an LED television. The complainant claimed they stole more than a kilogram of silver articles. The couple also found several household articles scattered around the house.
Based on Dhanapal’s complaint, the Madipakkam police registered a case and launched a probe. The police were examining available clues to identify the suspects and trace their movements.
