Businessman and stock market consultant P.R. Sundar was arrested in Bengaluru on Thursday in connection with a sexual harassment case registered on the complaint of a news anchor employed with a private television channel.
According to the police, the complainant became acquainted with Sundar in 2024 after attending a job interview at his consultancy firm. She alleged that Sundar later invited her to his residence in Foreshore Estate, where he behaved inappropriately with her. When she informed Sundar’s wife about the incident, the latter allegedly did not take the complaint seriously. The complainant stopped communicating with Sundar. However, on June 29, he contacted her and asked her to visit his office, saying he wanted to apologise.
In her complaint, she said she was forcefully confined in a room for nearly three hours, sexually harassed, and threatened, police sources said. Her complaint was forwarded to Ice House police station, based on which the police registered an FIR under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to sexual harassment, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and offences against women.
