The Cabinet on Wednesday gave the nod for acquiring 60 acres next to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) for establishing Aerospace Control Systems Centre under the Kerala SpacePark (KSpace).
The government has sanctioned ₹600 crore under the land acquisition pool of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) for the land acquisition under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act.
Orders will be issued assigning KSpace as the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the acquisition. The Chief Executive Officer of KSpace will be appointed as the requisitioning authority.
An initiative of the Kerala government, KSpace is aimed at promoting the establishment of industries in the domains of space and related areas in aviation and defence. It envisages developing Kerala as a major hub for these domains and thereby generating employment opportunities.
