As many as 1,030 undergraduate students of Canara College were tested on Wednesday for drug consumption. None were found positive, said college administrator Deepthi Nayak.
Following directive by the Mangaluru City Police for regular ‘drug test’, the college subjected most of the degree students for the test. The test was conducted by healthcare staff of Nitte Medical College and Hospital.
Ms. Nayak said a week ago ‘Say No To Drugs’ rally was held, in which students went around schools to make children aware about harmful effect of drugs. The college will ensure regular tests and make the campus free of narcotic drugs, she said.
