The Parappana Agarahara police on Thursday registered a case against a 33-year-old undertrial prisoner (UTP) for creating ruckus and threatening superintendent of prisons and his team during routine inspections .

Based on the complaint filed by Paramesh H.A., the police charged the UTP under various sections of Karnataka Prisons Act for further investigations.

According to the complaint, the prison official team as part of surprise inspection went to the prison hospital section where the accused Lokonab Lodja Emmanuel was housed.

The accused initially came forward and handed over the mobile phone with SIM to the inspections team and later started creating ruckus when the officials started to frisk him.

The accused shouted, verbally abused the officials and threatened to raise a complaint with the court and human rights commission, according to the police.

The accused, according to officials, was a habitual offenders involved in creating problems in the prison and instigating other inmates against the prison staff.

Earlier the prison officials, during a separate inspections, found as many as six mobile phones concealed in the sewage pipe, under the bed and inside the dust bin of the rooms in barrack 9 and 1 of the tower 1 sections.
