Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday announced that the Centre has sanctioned 4.5 lakh houses for Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Of these, 1.3 lakh units will be constructed in urban areas and 3 lakh houses in rural regions, at a combined cost of ₹4,350 crore. The Central government’s contribution will be ₹1.5 lakh per urban house and ₹72,000 per rural house, he said.
The Union Budget has also allocated ₹406 crore to Hyderabad‑based Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research. Institutions including International Advanced Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics(CDFD) and the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) have together received around ₹3,000 crore, he noted.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP State office, Mr. Reddy said Hyderabad has evolved into a “hub of hubs” — a centre for IT, education, digital research, high‑speed rail infrastructure, semiconductors, data centres and healthcare. He said the ₹10,000‑crore BioPharma SHAKTI programme will significantly benefit the city, already recognised as the nation’s pharmaceutical capital. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Hyderabad will also be upgraded, while three new NIPERs will be set up elsewhere in the country.
Mr. Reddy said several ongoing infrastructure projects in Telangana will continue with Central support, including national highway works worth ₹42,000 crore. The proposed six‑lane, 231‑km Hyderabad–Vijayawada corridor will be built at a cost of ₹10,297 crore, while ₹21,629 crore has been earmarked for the northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
AIIMS Bibinagar
The Minister said the ₹1,110‑crore AIIMS Bibinagar project, spread across 202 acres, will be completed by year‑end. The 750‑bed facility is receiving advanced medical equipment, and key services are already functional. A 24‑storey hostel complex is under construction, and over 1,000 staff members have been recruited. Emergency services, with 220 beds, have been operational since January 1.
The AIIMS currently hosts 880 students, including MBBS, specialist and nursing trainees. Around 1,800 outpatients visit daily, and a special facility, Amruth Nivas, is being developed for attendants. With 86% of construction completed, Mr. Reddy said treatment under Ayushman Bhava and Aarogyasri will remain free. An MMTS station will also be set up near the campus, he added.
