An elaborate cleanliness drive was carried out along the Outer Ring Road in Mysuru on Saturday ahead of the start of Dasara festivities.
The cleanliness drive, the second in the last ten days, taken up jointly by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and the neighbouring urban local bodies, saw the clearance of garbage, plastic waste, construction and demolition debris, and other discarded materials accumulated along the sides of the Ring Road.
The drive was launched at 6.30 a.m. on Saturday under the leadership of MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha in accordance with the directions issued by Minister in-charge of Mysuru District Yathindra Siddaramaiah while reviewing the preparations for Dasara festival, scheduled to start from Sunday.
A statement issued by the MCC said the cleanliness drive was aimed at making Mysuru a “clean, beautiful and tourist-friendly” city in the run-up to the Dasara festival 2026. “Please do not spoil the beauty of the city’s outskirts by dumping garbage along the Ring Road,” the MCC made an appeal to the public in the statement.
During the drive, Ms. Savitha visited various locations and inspected the cleaning operations. She instructed officials to prevent the unauthorised dumping of waste along the Ring Road and ensure that cleanliness was maintained on a sustained basis.
She also called upon the officials to co-ordinate with the neighbouring urban local bodies to ensure that cleanliness is maintained.
The MCC said it was gearing up to welcome the lakhs of tourists expected to visit Mysuru for Dasara in a clean and beautiful environment. It appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and refrain from dumping waste indiscriminately along roadsides.

Roopa, Taluk Panchayat executive officer Krishna, superintending engineer Sindhu, Hootagalli City Municipal Council commissioner Narasimha Murthy, MCC executive engineer (Environment) K.S. Mruthyunjaya, assistant commissioner of Zone-5 Manjunath Reddy, assistant commissioner of Zone 8 Somashekar, heads of neighbouring urban local bodies, environmental engineers, health inspectors, supervisors and pourakarmikas participated in the drive.
