CM Chandrababu Naidu sets Vizag Economic Region a target of generating $125-135 billion revenue by 2032

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chaired the first review meeting of the newly-formed Vizag Economic Region (VER) here on Friday. Collectors of the nine coastal districts under the purview of the VER were present.

Addressing the Collectors, Mr. Naidu said the VER should generate a revenue of $125 billion to $135 billion by 2032. The Chief Minister discussed the VER’s master plan and agenda. Among the 49 thrust areas, he said immediate focus should be on roads, railways, and ports, and logistics and other priority sectors.

Mr. Naidu asked the Collectors to prepare separate plans for sectors such as industries, municipal administration, tourism, roads, Information Technology, agriculture, forests, medicine & health, education, skill development, and power supply.

Ministers N. Lokesh, K. Atchannaidu, P. Narayana, T.G. Bharath, K. Durgesh, K. Srinivas, D.S.B.V. Swamy, and K. Ravindra, local MLAs and MPs, and key officials participated. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand explained the objectives of the VER to the participants.

Later, the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey to review the progress of various projects in the North Coastal region.

He reviewed the IT Hub and GCC project works near Kapuluppada, where the Visakhapatnam IT SEZ had been expanded. He also viewed the progress of the Tourism Hub coming up along the coastline near Bheemunipatnam and the progress of works pertaining to the Bhogapuram international airport.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials on road connectivity to the airport and development of the associated township. He also enquired about the setting up of an aviation university as part of the Education Hub planned at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district.

During the aerial visit, the Chief Minister inspected the lands allocated for various data centers, including the one for Google at Tarluvada of Anandapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam district. He also reviewed the availability of land for establishing industrial parks expected to come up in Sabbavaram and Pendurthi mandals as part of the VER development.
