
Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu handing over keys of new houses of Samathuvapuram in Sennilaikudi near Tiruchuli on Friday.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday inaugurated through video conference the additional buildings for district headquarters hospital at Aruppukottai and government hospital at Rajapalayam.
He also inaugurated the Periyar Samathuvapuram with 100 dwelling units at Sennilaikudi in Tiruchuli unit at a cost of ₹6.20 crore.
The six-storey building at Aruppukottai has been constructed at a cost of ₹30.35 crore.
The 8,000 square metres buildings have got two lifts with intenstive care unit, maternity and child care unit, separate fever wards for women and men, post-surgery ward.
Revenue Minister, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, lit the traditional lamp on the occasion and threw it open to public use in the presence of Virudhunagar Collector, N.O. Sukhaputra.
The Minister said that along with the new building, all required medical equipment have been provided.
The additional buildings at Rajapalayam GH have come up at a cost of ₹40 crore. The four-storey building has got 8,938 square metres of plinth area.
The new building has got out-patient ward, MRI scan facility, ECG facility, trauma care, three operation theatres, geriatic ward, paediatric outpatient ward, separate wards for men and women, paediatric ward, blood bank, laboratory, and orthopaedic wards for men and women.
Lighting the lamp, Mr. Ramachandran said that people now need not go all the way to Virudhunagar for getting treatment. Rajapalayam MLA, S. Thangapandian, and
District Revenue Officer, R. Anandhi, Joint Director of Medical Services, Senthilkumar, Rajapalayam municipal Chairperson, Bavithra Shyam, were among those who were present.
Besides 100 houses, the Samathuvapuram also has got a community hall, library, creche, playground, park, road and drinking water facilities.
